Lament for Lizetta

Pedals of tulips and white roses
Decorate your hearts golden seams.
You’re the queen of eternal starlight
In the depths of two lovers dreams.

Confusion and shame set aside,
When she calls, you can’t resist.
When you’re with her, life’s as sweet
As the honey on her lips.

I don’t want to tear you apart,
I wouldn’t want to cause a fuss
I just want to be the one you run to,
The one you know you can trust.

Lizetta,
I want to hold your hand
Lizetta,
I want to be your man.
Can she do
All the things I can?
Lizetta,
I want to be your man

Her touch is a feathered glove
Against a rough but gentle hand,
Still, tell me what I’m suppose to do
Just where exactly do I stand?

She can understand your feelings
She can understand your needs
She can be everything you ever wanted
But she can never be me.

I don’t want to be your breaking point
I wouldn’t want to do you wrong
I can step aside and let you decide
Exactly where you belong.

Lizetta,
I want to hold your hand
Lizetta.
I want to be your man.
Can she do
All the things I can?
Lizetta,
I want to be your man

You can never tame the wind
Or change the course of the tide,
In this case, I know I can’t win
And there’s no point in asking why.

Lizetta,
I want to hold your hand
Lizetta.
I want to be your man.
Can she do
All the things I can?
Lizetta,
I want to be your man
