Seasons come and seasons go
marking time, the status quo
Winter winds give way to spring
gentle rains, new flowers bring
Summer's sun will not relent
‘til the fall, when heat repents

Years yawn by and circle ‘round

some turn up and some turn down

Life’s events can pass you by

least you keep eyes open wide

‘Ere I nap that final time

I’ll take leave with you in mind

Author notes

I've been unable to write for so long I've almost forgotten how...lol. The passage of time has a way of making me realize how important those "precious moments" really are.

Though you say you haven't been able to write in a while, it certainly doesn't seem that way! Beautiful, serene... timeless.

    Excellent

That is sweet at the end -- it is like your whole life culminates in what your significant other means to you.

  • Very good poem I don't understand why you put this picture with this poem. my picture don't go with seasons. But it is a very good poem you wrote that I didn't no about until recently.

    Have not been

to your page for so long - a guilt trip drove me here. I assume Darlene to be your wife, and that lovely kid there? Well back to this poem: Enjoyed its simplicity and flow, with words I can identify worth- mind you, always deep and fresh, no matter the style and content you write! Blessings. Frans

No matter the span of time between written works, yours are always like a breath of fresh air in the Spring and crisp cool air in Autumn. Those two seasons are my favorite and tend to be the times of the year I perform at my best. This is beautiful! Sometimes life steps in and life on life's terms has to be dealt with, head on. Keep doing what you're doing in life and love and all will be well.

BEAUTIFUL rhymes are always the best in your poetry pile.

    All MY LOVE ♥

Beautiful and wise words and a beautiful picture, reminded me immediately of the butterfly aviary in Cypress Gardens SC. Soft and lovely.

    My Dearest Leo,
Sometimes we have to get out there and live life....tis the stuff that poetry is made of. Our muse takes respite and we move and create in our daily lives. Then one day, she returns and the gates flood open with memories with which to write yet another poem.
And you my dear friend, have not lost your touch at all. This has all the earmarks of the talents with which you are known.
The pic is great......so way cool!
    Love,
    Michelle

As are the butterflies free, so is your soul to be what was meant.

Leo, I think happiness blocks our muse. I am happier than ever and have a hard time writing. I'll give up writing any day for the life I live now.

But this poem is lovely so you did it.

Best wishes to you both. Darlene is a colorful and happy soul.
    Keep well, Friend.
