Accepted
A word that has taken new meaning
I am accepted

See I opened the letter and read these words
So happy I wasn't rejected
I yelped in happiness
Then sat down and thought about
What it means to be accepted
That people want to change who I am
Conform me
Make me into an educated young lady
Even though I'm already educated
Or is this something to be debated

Because I have not sat in a college classroom
Learning about philosophy, biology, and other hypocrisies
I am not smart
Last time I checked science couldn't educate you
In love, struggle, and real life
Yes, it can teach you about the heart beat and the cardiovascular system
But it can not teach you the ups and downs of a relationship
And how after it's over your heart is broken
Leaving you feeling unlovable
So yes I am accepted
But now as I am racing to beat my fellow man
Trying to prove that I have the best stripes
That I have had the worst life
So I can earn the money to fill the word accepted
I realize
That I am performing
Trying to convince people to educate me
Because without  them I cannot be
I respect that
But having me change who I am
So that I can
Does not fly by me

This goes to say I accept my acceptance
But your twisted ideals have been rejected
