Two among the trees
frolic as if alone
unaware of my presence there
silently watching
in awe of their grace
The first one turns
makes a wild dash
around the tree, as he stomps the ground
while the other one
close behind, makes chase
A shift of leaders
their game continues
hide-and-seek, until they suddenly retreat
as the mother deer comes near
and their dance slows to a pace
Away they quickly scurry
ending my view too soon
once more I'm left spell-bound by their actions
touched by this moment in time
away from the chaos of the daily race

This was beautiful. It makes me miss living in the country where deer sightings were an every day occurence. I lived in town for almost seven years, and I really missed it. We recently moved to a contrified area... I have actually smelled skunk for the first time in seven years! LOL... it hasn't changed! And we have a flock of peacocks in our yard every morning. We still don't live far enough out in the country to see deer though. This made me feel like taking a drive into the mountains. Thanks

Very lovely. Reminds me of walking around my Grandfathers house in the winter. So many deer walk around there.

You are lucky to be able to go and see such beautiful sights. And I am lucky to be taken there as well with the wonderfully alive words you have crafted.

I feel as though I am there watching them as I read this, like a peeping tom into their lives, this is so vividly described here. wonderfully written hun, it's sometimes one of the things we taken for granted, nature, it's good that you remind us and shared this
i think today I shall take a walk and enjoy it as well.

Kudos
I've always loved fawns...so innocent with those big brown eyes. A lovely piece that I reccomend everyone to read.. -
These scenes replay themselves every Spring in my back yard. Evidently my woods serve as a nursury for yearlings. Your poem could also describe a couple of foxes, I have seen them doing the same thing. You wrote this well enough to activate my memory. Thanks for the wonderful reminder that God has a show better than anything Hollywood can come up with, if we just watch.

i have seen these spotted babies frolic in the distant woods while peeping from a tent raised in a meadow, in the early hours they whirl and cavort, and you long to join them in their freedom but worlds seperate us, and they are elusive to man for all of his failingd towards them....Artis

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Thank you for taking me away from this dirty, old city for a moment. You captured a beautiful moment in nature very eloquently.
Mark
P.S. Thank you for your kind words on my poem "I'm a Poet." -
Oh, this is such a magical poem, and the time is very near, here in Maine, for Does, and fawns, I saw a new fawn once, frozen still in camoflage, I was frozen still, in awe, at the priviledged sight. These wonders show gifts of true freedom, for when wildlife is free it reminds us of the way life is meant to be. Lovely writing.

This speaks of such wonderful things. The peace of the forest Oh what I wouldnt give to be in such a place as this. to see nature in its glory. I love wildlife. there is just not enough writen on its wonders. you bring a scene of such beauty and serenity to the reader that I can just sit here for a while drink of it and dream. Thanks so much Rita.

Simply put, this is nature at its best. Living in the city and only being able to see nature up close when I go to the park, makes this piece even more special to me. I am not fortunate enough to have anywhere near enough to see deer playing games with themselves, but with this write, I don't think I'll need to go for a while.

Hi Rita!
First of all, what a lovely, vivid piece you have here...it made me want to scurry along with the animals. This is a wondrous piece, a sort of fantasy land where nature is left undisturbed and roaming in peace... wonderful indeed!
Second, what happened to all your writings?! I'm not happy because they're all gone...and they were good!
Put them back! I demand you put them back! lol...
Sorry... I'm kinda biting heads off left and right...blame it on the womanly curse that has fallen upon me once again! (it hasn't been on for months and I wish it had stayed far, far away!)
Many blessings,
Raven Aurora
