yours to waste

With your face that hangs in jowls
and the way it's always set in that scowl
I wonder what,
made you so bitter and if I will ever
end up that way
bus driver,
tell me your story while you drive in the diamond lane
I've got time and it's yours to waste.

Author notes

I am unsure if this is true of everywhere, but where I live the "diamond lane" is a lane that is marked by a white diamond shape on the pavement indicating a lane where only buses can drive.

  • I wish more people were willing to give their time to another to "waste." Excellent poem!

I think sometimes we are free when we have a destination and only time to waste to get there

That's why I like the bus, when I'm on the bus going somewhere, I'm not expected to be doing anything. That time is truly your own and you're free to waste it however you want. I'm not sure that the first thee lines really make sense, but I like them anyway.
