Keep Quiet.

  whispers:

               can you hear them ?

  whispers:

                 he can hear them.

 behind him. above him.

  floating just out of reach.

to his left. to his right.

    surrounding him like sharks.

 travelling through the corridors.

  poisoning the classroom air.

   about him, always about him.

    and still he remains silent.

  accusations:

                 can you hear them ?

  accusations:

                  he can hear them.

 they're accompanied by fists.

  they push him into corners.

force his back against a wall.

    trap him in a spiral

   of aching and self-loathing.

 and still he remains silent.

his best friend - only friend -

pulls him out of the mud

brushes the grass off his shirt

and tries to cheer him up

  with the reminder:

"tomorrow's the Day of Silence".

...

but, somehow, this doesn't make him smile.

    chills

What can I say except that this depresses me very much - and that should be taken as a good point!.I sense endless struggle and over-whelming sadness if it wasn't already overshadowed by the complete and utter numbness felt.It makes me want to say Fuck tomorrow's day of silence - its being lived already.

This almost made me want to cry, it was so incredibly sad. I think the colors and font added to the emotion

    Great job =]
I love the repetition with the whisper/accusations.
And the ending, while it wasn't the happiest, was very emphatic. I love this!

  • Oh wow, deep write on this. I really liked where you took this. Your imagery, sometimes can make me want to cry, but it's great. I really liked your use of poetic devices in this. Great job on this and good luck in the contest.

whether im making someone cry... or making someone smile... as long as i'm evoking emotion, i am successfully doing my job as a poet
