Those last two words he said
were that which left you numb
when they slipped through parted lips "i'm sorry"
and all that echos endlessly in your head
the weeks that pass turn to months
and your love for him,
still as fresh as a newly blossomed rose
that grief still hits you from both fronts
why?
the only question you continue to ask yourself
what happened?
that which made you so happy, then end so suddenly
that shock postponed your ability to cry
