box wrapped in shimmery paper
"someone" got a gift today
with bells and ribbons on it
and a card saying Happy Birthday
with a squeal of delight
(yes it was a squeal)
held it close to an ear
hearing the silvery peal
as the only sound heard
was the jingling of the bells
"What is it?" "someone" begged
"Tell me, tell me, please tell!"
"You will just have to wait,
until tomorrow." I said
"So put it back down
and get yourself to bed."
So hurry up and wait
drool over the cake
it's gonna be delicious
cause I don't bake
so now that it's time
to unwrap your gift
my hope on this day
it has given you a lift
Happy Birthday "somone"
we all do exclaim
and tired of being anonymous
you say, "Use my name!"
So in a chorus we cry out
one and all in tune
this day is for you
