//For Dimitri and the salvation of it…//
“Faith saved me…and I destroyed her.”
-Dimitri, Sauvé
Testaments of steel and memories of stone
empty places, caught up in the middle
the city calls your name
and I can’t
move on.
But somehow in the time it took
for one man to make his way across
the entire universe
you’ve found a place to call your own.
I’m glad.
You needed that.
I never should have taken you,
and you never should have come.
The rain will continue falling then
now
and always
and in my mind I will remember what it was like
to be the one
that brought it down.
They say tomorrow is a mystery
yesterday is history
and all we have left to do
is today.
I’ve spent my life summing up regrets
placing all the blame on someone else who did me wrong.
Today is when I begin to see
that someone else was me
and I was the one
who you will see
when summing up regret.
I’d ask you to forgive me
but I know that’s quite a lot.
So all I’ll say is that I still love you
even if I never knew until today.
