Dear Lady, Dear Lady will you please marry me
I love you so much I am on bended knee
To ask you this question, for your ears only,
Come live with me, you'll never be lonely.
I'll cherish your love, buy you clothes oh so fine
My money you'll have when you say you'll be mine
Dear Lady, Dear Lady oh please do agree
To say that you love me and will marry me
Kind Sir, Kind Sir how you flatter me so
I'm afraid my reply has got to be "No."
Your proposal I savour but I must resist
Though you're so charming, so proud and so rich
Having clothes and money and love evermore
Would gladden my heart and make me secure
Kind Sir, Kind Sir I must still say "No."
Please go home to your wife, she lives just next door

This is unusual and an extremely clever piece of writing. the old fashioned music hall ballad with both romance and comedy woven together. For a first poem this is magical. Some more please.

hehe oh nice surprise ending, rhyming flows very well. I had to laugh at the irony of it. Thanks for the smile
