Shiny Immaterialism

The gleam of metal sunrises
hinder our sightless views,
illuminating glorious disasters.
So bright, so bright.

The mid-morning shine of the platinum dawn
erases the dented emotions of guilt
left by our elegant collisions on the path of destruction.
So sweet, so sweet.

Lackluster smiles meet sanguine lies
as the refreshing acid rain keeps our
triumphs from rusting to a dull orange-y red.
So shiny, so shiny.

Until the lamenting noon-light  corrodes
our truths to a fine chrome dust and the
arch-bishop cries mercury tears from laughing.
So ironic, so ironic.

The world is finally bright and shiny like we wanted it,
Dad, why aren't you smiling like the sun?
Why do you look like mommy moon,
so tragic, so tragic?

Author notes

I started this literally five minutes ago... and it just flowed right out. As if it had been waiting there the entire time, living in my (metaphoric) ink, hiding in my (metaphoric) pen. I hadn't even really thought of the idea until I sat down to write this poem (this is actually the first draft, the first time I've written it unlike my other poems which are almost all written on paper first. The only ones not are the ones for contests and More Versatile Than I.). I guess I actually got the idea from my name, and not the other way around. But... the name also sorta came out of nowhere. I liked the word immaterial. So... I just made it shiny. And then I though, "hey, I have some free time, I think I'll write a new poem. I know, how about a self-titled poem?" And.... now ten-ish minutes later... ta-dah!

So enjoy. =] Or not, it's not like I poured my heart into this one... Just my subconscious.

Does it convey the message well enough?

  • 0.o ME ENCANTA!

OMG I'm in love with this. Seriously. It reminds me, for some reason, of Paprika, which may partly be why I'm in love with it...You were right when you said that this is kinda different from your other poems...but different every now and then is always pretty. Like this. ^_^

  • lol yay everything's better shiny, right?

I like it the only thing is, you always write in-depth poems and I never quite understand them. Lol. But I can usually tell that it's good even if I don't know exactly How good :]
