Brought on by foul thoughts,
this nightmare engulfs me.
Bringing me down,
never letting me rise.
Its the essence of negativity,
the cause of failure.
The ultimate pain,
that causes me to give up.
It resides inside me,
its hideous yet so familiar.
The pain it causes is emotional,
not physical.
You may tell yourself,
it doesn't seem that scary.
Its not bloody nor gruesome,
and it doesnt haunt the darkness.
It haunts the darkness of my mind,
and cause fright even in the day.
What makes it the most scary,
is that this nightmare is me.

I know its not exactly what you'd expect from such a prompt, but as far as personal nightmares goes this is mine, when I fail because I tell myself that I can't succeed. Its when my negativity takes over, and its pretty bad at times.
