Beautiful Butterfly

Butterfly oh butterfly,
I can see your wings,
filled in with color,
beauty.
As I watch, your wings
turn crimson from
the sweet nectar of
my heart.
Your wings; weak and delicate
they can't hold my blood.
As you fall to the ground,
your body cripples with death.
Butterfly oh butterfly,
I have murdered you,
and for what?
My own pleasure,
my ca-coon of artificial happiness.
Butterfly oh butterfly,
I'm sorry to dispose
of your life.
Please butterfly oh butterfly,
forgive
my selfishness
please.

Author notes

For those who don't know, cutters draw a butterfly on their wrist to remind them not to cut. If they do cut, the butterflies life is destroyed.

  • I came across this symbolism in a contest a few months ago and was unsure about it's validity.

You have put a lot of emotion into your words and it certainly makes me ponder.
    Very well written.

    Thanks for the entry.
