I can't get rid of the taste.

Coughing without end, blood leaking from
her face. Dripping out of her nose, pouring
out, seeping out of her throat.

Holding onto her tight, my chest bloodied
from the warm liquid covering her weak,
and almost lifeless body. Tears pouring
down my damp skin as I beg her to breathe,
to live, beg her to hang on.

Softly grabbing her broken and damaged hand
and placing it in mine, I yell and scream for
someone to help, for someone to care. Trying
to get the attention of the carefree world, to
make someone look at the broken and battered.

I try to help her up, pick her shattered body off
the floor, and carry her back up the stairs she
had just been thrown down. Try and help save
my best friend from the torturous man she called,
Ben.

Giving up, I bawl, trying to hold my composure
as my friend starts to slip away, her heart slowing
down and her eyes fading. I shake her a little, and
beg her and plead with her to not give in to this.

But her body couldn't do it, as I grab her hand, I place
my thumb on her wrist and slowly, very slowly, the beat
of her bruised heart slows, coming to a stop.

Leaning down, I kiss her cheek, feeling her warm
liquid against my lips. My tear soaked face pressed
against hers, I watch my friend die.

As I step back in my mind, taking in all that had
happen, I lick my cracked lips, tasting her blood
on my tongue. Knowing that the taste of her pain
would never go away.

"But her body couldn't do it, as I grab her hand, I place
my thumb on her wrist and slowly, very slowly, the beat
of her bruised heart slows, coming to a stop." This is my favorite part. Mainly because it makes me realize how much you love this person and how much you wish you could take all the pain that they are going through away.

    Hauntingly vivid, and impressive!

I like this one.  It's vivid, haunting in its clarity and substance, and extremely impressive.  While I, like most, prefer a life without pain, or fear, or any hard unpleasantness, I can appreciate the darkness in your writing, for I have my own place of haunting things, and so can identify quite well.

Keep up the great work, hon! *hugzz*

    Blessings,
