minding my own business
you come along
to solve a nonexistent problem.
So lost in fear and ignorance
so desperate to be recognized
for an act you think will earn you some points
when you don't even have the slightest clue.
You see a blind man walking these halls
as you gasp and you sigh and appogize
and you walk on pins and needles
as you gently insult my intellegence.
I'm amused at the way that you show false concern
and I laugh at the way that you needlessly worry
I scoff at the way you underestimate me
and I frown at the way that you act with pretense.
You are always so interested in lending a hand
but are you interested in understanding
my world or my point of view in this life
or do you just want to show off for attention.
I am loner, an introvert
so lost in a world so ignorantly blinded
so out of tune with their other 4 senses
and so out of touch with another's perspective.
So go use your pity to close off your mind
and use your pretense to be ignorantly blissful;
use your fear as a dagger to my soul
and blind your self with denial.
So I am the one that's disabled,
but I am the one so curious,
and I love to learn about everyone's experiences,
and I still believe in unity
and I'm not to afraid to ask questions.
So I am the one that's disabled,
when I had to work 10 times harder to get
everything that you got for free
and I have to be so persistent
because of your petty underestimations.
I don't have the time to prove things to those
that won't take the time to understand
but to those attempting to try,
I shall extend my hand
but I have no more time for pretentious samaritans.
Author notes
No, I am not a bitter blind man that generalizes sighted people, but I have come to notice that people jump out to give help not required or asked for. Especially at the college I attend.
Yet, no one really talks to me for more than 2 minutes. I must not be, (good enough." Sorry, for not conforming to the materialistic ignorant simplicity imposed on those in this culture. There are a few that ask questions, but there are a lot that already think they know the answers. Make of this what you will. A bit of poetic release was necessary.
Hope you enjoy,
BC.

A stunning write, with profound wisdom. My compliments.

This is such a real piece... so rare to find one where I say that... but it is. It holds much emotion and at some level it does hold truth. Even if your not that bitter man. Great Write, and Good Luck in the Contest (smile) you deserve GOLD for this one!!

This is interesting. I don't know anyone in person that has a disability, which is a shame. My mate broke his leg recently and whilst this is only temporary, I try to help him out, but he is a very independant guy, so it is difficult to know when to help and when not to.
This is an interesting insight into your mind and I like the stream of consciousness style of it.
Nice write!

angst made clear
sometimes people extend their unwanted help in order to have a sense of significance or to just plain feel good about themselves.
Although I understand what you are saying and where you are coming from (one introvert to the next) sometimes a lil patience is required for some people's social blunders.
