This morning, I rest hither on the sunny lawn
And watch that Violet blossom slow,
Bestowed not with words, to sing their praise
I ponder, what charm might thy words have drawn
If this day, this time, you were treading these ways.
How they came to life in sprightly dance,
Those lines in early Spring, Lucy Gray,
Host of golden daffodils and that reaper 'lone,
Highland woes, their rhyme, their romance,
Bewitching like that flower by the mossy stone.
As I withdrew from far pleasurable lands,
I could not, but help my feet walk this way
A mere seeker, I might be here as a guest
To have a glimpse of this blessed home that stands
The same~ that nurtured thy muse in its ruddy breast;
I touch; I feel the stone walls cold
If they could speak, of the ages they had seen
And of beauteous evenings, calm and free,
When thy quill would play, with what the muses told,
Thou bringest unto us a song, the Cuckoos hum by the distant sea.

So beautiful
Goodness, this is rich, classic. full. It talks and expresses. The greatest part of this is the ghost that remains. And nobody loves a fruitful ghost like
an Irish, Scottish, or one who blew the first whistles of desire.

I shall never "touch the stone walls cold" and must be content with the writings of the great man. You have penned a lovely poem which I found delightful to read.
Thank you for posting this and good luck.

Thanks for your contribution (and the original inspiration) to this contest. Having made a diversion to Dove Cottage whilst on the Coast-to-Coast walk I must confess to being disappointed. All the other visitors scared my muse away and I came away with no thoughts such as this.
A nicely concieved piece competently executed except perhaps for line4 where I would have considered "might thy words have" rather than the other way round.
On the whole this is good work and I wish you good luck.
