Punta Gorda although small as a town
Several years ago gained renown
When a magazine called Money
Reported this location sunny
Had been rated number one
In the south, for living in fun
Good boating,fishing,eating
Very little winter heating
Hardly any unemployment
Copious outdoor enjoyment
Social clubs in the region
Yacht Club,Elks,American Legion
For culture to build
There's the county art guild
The best adult education
In Florida or the nation
There is much,much more
But to describe it would bore
Yes all this is true
But publication we may rue
If Punta Gorda's expanding size
Destroys this wondrous paradise.

Interesting.
I applaud your effort, but would like to know more about Punta Gorda. "But to describe it would bore," is a strange line to insert into a poem that is meant to describe a place. You might consider more description and fewer facts.
Good luck with the contest. Winners will be selected on August 12th. -
Oh, yes, grand-wanting to keep it a certain way, got you and thanks for sharing it a bit with me

Great write Bill. You make Punta Gorda sound so interesting but then we have most of those things right here too so I think I will stick around awhile. Once something nice like this is widely discovered and people flock in, it sometimes does more harm than good..no longer the quaint, quiet place it was before. Excellent write. Good luck in the contest.

I see the sunny delight you have tucked away in your home town. Sounds like a very nice vacation spot, the many attractions and the climate sounds like the place to be for a winter retreat. Enjoyed the sun and fun, where is the sand?....lol. jk.
