Wild horses wild roses

Praying for a wild horse

Red blood roses

taking over this girl's mind

living in a world so angry

leaving a blood red rose

no where to survive

praying with hands folded

no angels by her side

Please God send a wild horse

for this wild rose to ride.

higher higher higher

oblivion

no one tends the wild horse or

the wild rose so fragile.

from heaven

above

blood red rose petals

fall one by one.

Wow. Deja blue! I wanted to tell you about a radio show I heard. It was a woman, who was made whole by a friendship with a horse and her husband buying a abandoned quarry and making it a ranch where abused horses met abused children. I was driving/crying my way to work... The place is Crystal Peak Ranch, you can google, and she had a book or two. Meeder her name I think. The ranch is right. I think they would love this poem. It captures the heart of every thing I heard.

I love the rhyming of "above" and "one."
I do agree with an earlier comment that it leaves a lot open to the imagination. The part that leaves me pondering is the end; no one looks after them and the petals fall from the sky? Did she find him and then grow old together? Or did she wilt away?

    It reads like a short story. A lot left to the imagination, to form pictures and develope the scene. I do like the rhyme in the middle;
    praying with hands folded
    no angels by her side
Please God send a wild horse
for this wild rose to ride.
Almost makes me want to be the wild horse!
    Wonderful.

This must surely be the prayer of many a young girl, one answered in dreams only for most - you are one of the lucky ones. This makes me think of the Carl Samdburg story, The Bluewind Boy and the White Horse Girl, which I bet you would enjoy.

Well conveyed longing for escape from an angry world. My favorite lines, "Please God, send a wild horse for this wild rose to ride."
I remember an old friend saying, "There's nothing better for the inside of a man than the outside of a horse!" There is a lovely sense of freedom, power and unity between human and horse expressed here.

  • Beautiful

This is a most mature writing . The rhymed part was
the best . Also , the next to last verse was excellant . There were no bad parts . That's why it was beautiful and mature . I would not change a thing . This poem needs no revision at all . Just
    plain beautiful .

  • It reminds me so much of a song by Dolly Parton, Emmy Lou Harris and Linda Ronstead about wild flowers. It used to make me cry and I find your piece is also very powerful.

Of course, it stands on its own. Enjoyed this write.

  • love it
horses, roses, and getting away for everything
    yep I love it

  • Tears and chills

Oh my dear - the title caught my eyes. What beautiful wording. I felt encouraged by this; that I am not alone fighting off the vultures. Oh, this wild rose with no place to plant my roots needs my wild horse to come and spirit me away. Breathtaking. You are magnificent Poet! I am so very proud of you, my beloved dear sister poet of my heart and soul. There are no words for how magnificent and moving I found this. You are dearly loved!

  • This is really cool. A lot of emotion. I love the lines
Please God send a wild horse

for this wild rose to ride.
    they just made me think...
My middle name is rose you that kind of added to it for me... great write

  • For this reader the mood created is heavily doom laden - in tensified by the background. One to consider and reread but not, perhaps, to enjoy.
