These horses come running
Across the field of rapidly growing grass
Not knowing where their instincts will take them
Not knowing what will happen next
There hearts pound loud with racing fear
Taking over their blinding power
They stampede across the vacant lands
This is their final hour
As they keep on coming with focused minds
Never stopping to rest
They stay alert and remember the fact
That they learned from the very best
They keep coming, trying hard
Running out of breath
The horses learn the hard way
That life is harder than death
Making their way across the fields
Stampeding past the trees
They keep their hooves upon the ground
As they come to me

wow one can feel and hear the power and desperation of this piece ..almost like the last desperate ride with all the badlands being taken and no wildspace left for these poor magnificent creatures ...a wonderful pleading piece of poetry thats message is we should preserve more of the wilderness for our beautiful wild animals..keep up the wonderful write poet this poem is a classic
