Behind the barbed wire, the land is desolate
The ground is covered with memories of cruelty
memories of people who once lived
Their blood stains the ground
and soaks deeply into this soil
There is no life here,
Only skeletons remain
The gates of your heart slam for years
as you lock this terrible memory up
Behind a shield of barbed wire
Many years of emptiness pass
All our fights slowly begin fade
and the wounds heal
life can grow here once more
With time, no pain can last forever
No resentment can burn forever
Life will go on
Even on burnt bloodied ground,
A brave sprout reemerges
It's frail leaves shiver in the cold morning air
Day by day it grows a little taller
and grows stronger
despite what has happened here
The little flower begins to bloom
Releasing the soft sweet aura of forgiveness
The barbed wire still remains
And blocks our hearts from enjoying it
But still
the little flower persists
weaving a path
towards the sun
and through the wire
For love will always find a way
