weighed and measured

"Fatty four eyes"

she bears the scars
of a fractured heart
hidden behind
a ready smile
a quick wit

"Fat and lazy never amounts to anything"

she works harder
than any other
trying to prove
her worth
her value

"Fat and ugly"

she looks in the mirror
and sees neither
strength nor
courage nor
perseverance

her lifetime
measured
not by loves, dreams and accomplishments
but by the numbers
on the scale

wow, i can really relate to the heartfelt words you have penned, this write really hits, I have lost friends to the scales and almost myself, why do people never realise how much words can hurt, just because they can´t see the damage done doesn´t mean it doesn´t exist. a brilliant piece

  • I can really relate to this. this hit home and it hit hard. I can remember the words that were said to me and are often still said. though I do my best to ignore them, though I know I can't..Words hurts no matter what anyone says and they leave scars often the ones that can't be seen from the outside.

this poem is filled with emotions that I have a lot.

    Congratulations on the HM

It is sad how society teaches us that being thin is the only measure of beauty and that it is sick to be not so thin...thank you for sharing this poem with us...
