Kids run to his door
One knock and run
Outside he comes
Old Man Death
Throwing rocks at his windows
This was the teen thing to do
He yells from his bedroom
"Stop that racket!"
Next door the bass plays
College kids are partying all night long
Old man Death can't sleep
He just stares up at the ceiling
Come to take him away
The adults do
"This is my house", he screams
He could move but he doesn't want to
In the nursing home the people ask
"Why won't Old Man Death leave?"
From the old woman in the corner says
"Because he is still waiting for me."
Old Man Death died today
The Old Woman next
They buried them side by side
Through the ground, they rot together
Author notes
The way this quote inspired me was because the Old Man could have gone out and done a million things but because of this woman who got taken away, he stayed at that house waiting for her. Kind of a lifetime revolution meh.
