Though I was forever in the background, you ignored my nonexistence,
And you never knew about my life, so far off in the distance.
You never noticed the shine of the tears that fell down my face.
You went on with your life and mine vanished without a trace.
No one heard my silent cries of terror as I stared at pictures in my mind.
No one offered a hand up, and I've been long since left behind.
No one saw me lying there as I began to decay,
Fertilizing flowers as my pale white skin turned gray.
The next time you pick a rose to give to someone worth your while,
Give it to the see-through girl and watch her learn to smile.

Elleeeeeen, this is sad! But I like it! I know everyone else has already said it, but I, too, like the couplet. It's kind of cheesy, but it's a nice message. Is this fiction, or...? Oh, I see it's for a contest. Is that the only reason you wrote it?
Much love!

P.S. Like my new name?

Yeah I only wrote it for the contest. I guess I do feel like this sometimes though...though I didn't know it at the time.

I like it. It's a good poem. The couplet rounds it off nicely.

I love your couplet at the end and the whole story you penned in this piece. Great take on the prompt. Thanks for entering.
