Rapture

I sense you coming soon to find me
Your presence looms beyond the day
A cold embrace that tightly holds me
On silent breast I rest my face

Though I feel the coming rapture
Stillness in your quiet heart to share
No longer fearing where you take me
No longer have I a load to bear

Together we will climb the stair in silence
Toward the place where all are bound
There we will wait in total stillness
Until the call of judgement sounds

What did you think

i am young and someday hope to make this journey but for now i yearn to live life to the fullest and i hope you do too. i liked the sense of elevation you wrote in this poem. it inspires us to have something to look forward to that may be greater than what we already know.

My favorite thing about this poem is the imagery that it gives. To me it seems like it could be a metaphor, abstract, and a mixture of things. Sorry if I'm wrong on that.

The part I wasn't wild about was the mention of "breast". I just wish there was another word used that would make the mind explore more. However, it does give it strong imagery with that word.

The only reason why I would say that word is because it's really overdone in poems but this one at least the word isn't used as a in your face type poem.

Thanks for a great poem, and for playing the one word game on the cafe board. Kari

  • This poem makes me think of total surrender. These words are like psalms. Although this work is beauteous, it is also melancholy. The day that we give up the ghost will be a splendor but it will also be a sad day for those who are left behind. It is good however that it appears you will not make this journey alone. You’ve written a beautiful poem here poet. I have been meaning to visit your poetry for some time now. I am glad I did. It has been my pleasure.

    Much Love & Respect ♥

This is really good. I like it. Not sure if it is me and my mood, but I read an underlying sadness in the words. It is a wonderful moment that you have pictured here, but it just seems tinged with some heartbreak.

    • You are astute. It is fear, submission, release,, a begining and an ending, and yet, perhaps, anticipation as well.

The Rapture, yes. And wouldn't that be grand.

Slipping away without all the turmoil, no grave, no grim reaper, just a steppin' on outta here heaven bound.

A pact! I'll seeya there! If not put in a good word willya!
