when my hair shifts lightly to cover my face,
moved by an unseen hand
when my hands are full of "good tilled earth"
or my toes dig in the sand
when my eyes are raised to the moon lit sky
and land upon a shooting star
when my heart is stopped by the beauty of it all
then i know it's not that far.
It's not that far to the heart of it all
it's not that far till we find our core.
It's not so hard to leave this behind
it's not so hard to believe there's more.
In the herbs that grow and the stones that sit
in the smile of a friend and the laugh of a child
In the page of a book and the beat of a heart
in the waves of the ocean, in something wild
In my deepest thought and your worst idea
in the trees that sway and the flames that burn
In your kindest word and my cruelest sneer
it's all so easy for us to learn
That it's not that far to the heart of it all
it's not that far till we find our core.
It's not so hard to leave this behind
it's not so hard to believe there's more.
No it's really not hard to abandon it all
and get lost inside our core
to cherish the earth and all we have,
to live for the idea that there is more.

I chose the option about nature.

beautifully done!
Impeccable rhyme scheme and imagery that left me smiling! This was a very well-written peice of work and I am glad I had this contest so that I've been privy to reading it. Your diction was also quite appropriate
I enjoyed this piece very much. Thank you for submiting it.

This was really good, well rhymed, and nicely metered. I thought the content was good as well, though I must admit, at some points I was merely reading the words, not absorbing them. Well written, though, I thought that it was well executed. Good luck in the contest.

Now this is one of the better entries I've read in this contest -- it has a sense of urgency and emotion that bring the words to life.
And yes, sometimes it's not so hard to believe.
Nice write.
