Whips and chains, images held
by my filmy milk white eyes.
Abandoned by God and family, I lay here ready to die.
Pain ripping and tearing my flesh.
A bellowing scream and stuttering tears relieve my body.
Lashings and the oppression...
Women, children, the elderly abused and mutilated.
Hollow prayers echo off shanty walls as religious revival ceased.
Quieted sobs of stolen youth now worn, years of the aged.
As my filmy white eyes play the scenes repeatedly,
I wonder if God watches as the horror goes on...

What a powerful take on the prompt you were given. I was taken to the scene you described...the sadness and loneliness were almost palpable. It will be a glorious day when we no longer have to endure the suffering of this world.

This was a great read, its pain and image sunk deep within me, feeling the writer, the mourning soul of decay as they await the judging of God. Thank you for your entry, take care and be well
