Once upon a century,
in London-Town of old,
I fancied a young man unattainable,
the handsome son of a watch-maker.
Unattainable he certaintly was,
for he was Time's slave,
aging with a blink of my eye,
though I remained the same.
Selfish was I,
and foolish, too -
how I wanted him so! -
a souvenier for me to remember
Victorian London-Town of old.
I lusted and I flirted,
and soon he became mine -
my love and my companion,
yet it was not to be.
His family was superstitious -
they knew each nightmarish folk-tale -
and spotted me for what I was -
a monster damned to Hell.
I was exiled from their family,
yet we met in secret still -
we escaped and wed three years after,
saying farewell to London-Town of old.
It was not to last -
he was but a fragile human;
one day, I must confess,
I was rather ravenous -
I took my husband to our bed,
thus bringing him to his grave;
bloodlust cannot pick or choose -
it is a desire beyond comprehension or control.
"He died of consumption," said I,
and - really - it was true,
they brought his cadaver back to his birthplace,
to be entombed in London-Town of old.
Now there goes no night I spend
away from his resting-place,
mourning my loss of self-control,
as well as my once-living love -
this eternal solitude and sorrow is mine,
like once very much was he,
for each time the moon arises,
I wander near his grave in the foggy black,
remembering London-Town of old.

Congratulations on the gold!
If there is one thing I know, it is that you were born to write. I can't go on enough about the gift you have for incredibly vivid poetry. You certainly accomplished the task of telling a story. Each and every line within this poem is truly amazing. I can't believe how young you are. This writing goes far beyond many poets twice your age. This is my favorite poem I have read in the past few months. I have been to London, so I could visualize this piece in vivid detail.

Totally cool! I loved it! it was different and yes featured all the usual lover vampire dammed stuff, but I absolutely loved your lose of self control and sad ending. A true story with plot and I was totally taken by the end. Well done.
