Snowed In

The roads and fields are buried deep
In unaccustomed snow.
Cut off in an archaic world of family members,
We photograph for posterity
Snowmen and tobogganing
On this strange, enforced holiday from
Schools and work and
Responsibilities and
Global Warming

Author notes

We don't get very much snow these days and, when we do, it all seems like a trip back in time.

Why do I always seem to end up with some silly environmental twist?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

  • LOL I don't know why you always end with some environmental twist but I find that I'm always thinking about that stuff too so you're in good company! I thought it creative and I loved the image of trying to keep everyone entertained with an unexpected snowday. But you know what? Those are usually your best memories!

Line three - oh if only it were just the one day... - Line eight - yes, it seemed like all responsibility was shelved... which only works for a day and, yes, line nine... maybe - probably. Like everything else, it'll all be my fault - probably. Yes, it will be.

I was gutted actually... when it snowed. I know it was pretty and, yes, photos, BUT It was my first day off for weeks and I was SERIOUSLY HOPING (sorry to shout) for some down time ... heaves big sigh.

And the environmental twist is not silly. The trouble is it's so hard to do the right thing..... Confiscate my car keys... PLEASE? Vic - you'd be doing me a huge favour. x Live high.. live mighty.

Just nice to see you back. x
