Sea salt is tasted on the tongue
White life guard stands and purple flags
Are scattered across South Beach
They say it’s dangerous
To tread water here
I guess
Maybe they’re right
Young men and women frolic on the sand
Throwing around a ball
It bounces back and forth
Boy girl, Boy girl.
Reminding of my heart
The other Saturday night we started conversing
And you told me you were a romantic
That magical word
We talk more and more
Every day
The conversation bounces
Back and fourth from my hands
To yours
I wonder some nights after we talk
If you fall asleep thinking of my smile
Because I fall asleep locked on yours
Maybe you’re my purple flag
Protecting against dangerous marine life
Or maybe you’re the shark
Just waiting for a little bit of blood
I’m betting on the first one
Because I can’t stand to fall for another danger
