lacrima

i keep them in a dank room until they go
mad from the dripping, until they have
lived so long in the darkness that light
would only blind them.  i beat them, tear
at them with teeth and the pieces of
glass you left so kindly in your wake
until they bleed all the blue from my
eyes, and only then do i push them
through the windows of the top floor
of my heart, wave goodbye as they
fall unheeded around everyone below.
i never make a sound; they have been
moaning for so long that even my voice
is hoarse with agony.  and in the silence
that washes over me so sweetly when
it is done, i proudly smear what is left
on my face like war paint, their only
eulogy, a testament to the world that i
am never alone, that i am not a void.

and then i get a big headache.

I love the conclusion. How tears prove that you are "never alone." And the beginning, until one figures out what your talking about, is absolutely entrancing.
