When sweet innocence can no longer exist
and all that remains is another adult,
When views and morals finally twist
and choices that were once simple came to a halt,
what is left?
When right transforms into a mess of wrong
and a person finally gives up on hope,
When patience is short while the days long
and the mind gives up and can no longer cope,
what is left?
When happiness is finally beat to death
and the hate and sorrows of the world kick in,
When the truth grows dull and life has no breath
and the pain of what this earth really is wins
what is left?
When the horror of hurting someone withers
and the heart can no longer take the false friends,
When she will claim and remove what is hears
and you are finally cut off from all ends,
what is left?
When the spirit is sick of being used
and help ceases to flow from her bleeding hands,
When you need instead of want, and refused
and a cement fence is erected and stands,
what is left?
When she gets tired and lets it rain
and she finds no use in talking to drones,
When she sees she has nothing to explain
and she leaves you here to survive all alone,
what is left . . .
When there is nothing.

I suppose it inspired the exact opposite.

A wonderfully creative and thoughtful poem certianly different from the poem that inspired this. I like the dark imagery and passion that you have used in writing this poem. The structure that you employ is solid and quite effective to get the attention of your reader to ponder your message. Well done dear poet,
Write On! Best of luck in the contest.

Great inspiration, you took it in the direction you choose. Very vivid sense of what happens when a person is used, and feels the pain inside. Thank you for a great thinking poem!
