the great old pine

Missing image

standing tall

master of this domain.
thousands of years

on earth it still remain's.

even though the tree is old.
in its hart It's filled with gold.

slowly it slips into
an everlasting slumber.
hoping not to become
just another piece of lumber.

inside its hart still shines
reaching skyward
with all the other

great old pines.

I've always said, when I die I want my ashes buried and a tree planted on top, but then I think what if someone makes me into a coffee table, or worse yet, a toilet seat. lol. Wouldn't that be ironic. I guess it would be payback for all the times I said, kiss my arse...

    Nice write, well said.

This is an amazing piece of work for your age or any other. This reminds me of "Walden" by H.D. Thoreau. Can't think of a better compliment.

OMG (can I say that?) I was blown away with the picture first...just yesterday when I was laying on the ground looking up at the sunshine I thought of taking a picture of the trees the way I saw them...this is it exactly, and then the words!! Bravo

I love pine trees. We used to live near Sequoia ... the giant redwoods? The greatness of it all. So majestic and inhaling the scent all around. It really was and is a reminder of God.

It's lovely and filled with wonderful imagery. Did you mean ' hart' or 'heart' In L6 and L11? Otherwise, I like how you give reverence and majesty to the pines.
