Sovereign Indwelling

The golden sun
Paints my face with shimmering warmth
But it is raining
In my heart
Overcome
Pouring from within
Floods, churning with uncertainty
Break me open
Yet the wounds yield no blood
But seep
With a cold, foreboding, creeping
Fear
And I am lost

(within myself)

I have built a fortress
To which I,
Alone,
Hold the key
Affording protection?
From the unknown…
An impenetrable barrier
So mighty, so strong
Guarding- imprisoning-
My heart

(full of longing)

For truth, for courage, for…
…love
The walls are but
Stepping stones
Leading him to me
As my lonely groans
Rise above
Clouding out the sun

(overshadowing)

Destiny
For as unworthy a charge
As I
His affection
Gentle and pure
Saves not with force
But a quiet, flowing
Assurance
Of my worth

(in his eyes)

I find the courage
To release the torrent
Pain, fear
Storming, away
And left within me
Emptiness, disarray

(restoration)

For my shattered emotions
Convalesce
In his quiet strength
I am bound once again

(entirely powerless)

To resist his love
