so the pages lay wordless
void of stimulation


listen to a heartbeat
Silence is broken
thoughts race -
chase each other
become music
to a hungry mind



your world becomes
a cacophony of noise

    Beautifully done -- I am always so amazed when attempting silence, at the sounds that seem to come from nowhere and everywhere! Even in the cloister, the rustle of cloth habits, rustle of beads, wind at the window... Your poem brings back those memories and more. Good luck in the contest. Lita
