The sound of the sea.

You were happy

tonight beneath that

tipsy moon

your crinoline waltz

of magical tune,

up and down, in and out

swishing swashing swooning

about.

Those skirts

tousling as taffita silk

gathering up the

rock clingling wilks...

oh gentle Lady is the sea

I shall listen again

tomorrow night for thee.

Flitter, flutter, flouncing tide

glide slowly to my shore

like an unfurling flag.

  • What beautiful sound when reading this delight. Rich imagery of ocean, sea life, and beautiful smiles.
I found this just so beautiful.

Your light and wistful rhyme pull me to the edge of sand and surf. A favorite place to be. Swishing swashins swooning. (love the use of alliteration here)

Thank you for this gem. Best of luck in the judging.

I am happy to have read this...
The sea is always a constant source of comfort.

  • Beautiful and Sentimental Artistry...

Somehow, this poem reminds me of the song, "Lady in Red" by Chris Deberg. So touching!! Best wishes in the contest!! Loves ya, xx Cyn
