Doubting

Feeling bad
she hates her hair.
Doesn't suit me,
sticks out,
looks stupid-
the old familiar refrain.
There's something else
at the root of this trouble,
something more
which curls
at the strands of her despair.
This dandruffy lack
of self-esteem
will never be
her crowning glory.
