Words convey what speakers say.
Tears deliver sermons in a quieter way.
Words can't break in pieces and run
down the heart's crevices, or form
salty crystals that burn pale cheeks.
Tears are drops of emotion, with every
hue of the rainbow reflected in their shedding.
Spinning like kaleidoscopes, they run
to dark chasms of hopelessness.
From wailing winds and red rimmed eyes,
they flow from empty, suffering souls.
When tears pour, no ear is turned
toward the sound, no useless words are
found to comfort the one who weeps alone.
Fat drops of misery are induced by shame,
betrayal, disappointment, wrenching pain.
They leave sad hearts wrung out and dry,
leaving the weeper wondering why.
