There is only one who knows what lies behind my mask
Only one who knows the truth without having to even ask
The rest of the world must never know the way I really feel
That sometimes when I laugh and smile, it is far from real
Oft’ times, alas, I reveal too much, my inner self exposed
I also try to never lie but allow my truth to be supposed
I manipulate my words to say what I think they wish to hear
Because they must never know how much I really fear
I not only hide behind my mask but I seldom venture far
Restricted by my personal demons, I only feel safe in the car
‘Like yourself for others to like you’, I know that all too well
If I can believe strong enough, I will break free of my hell
