Poet

I'm a simple minded simple man
Who'll live as long as his life span
And when I die then I'll be dead
There'll be no more poems in my head
So all I ask is till that day
Just let me say what I must say
And when I come to my last stand
Let me die peaceful pen in hand

I like the deceptive simplicity of this little piece. I especially like the double meanings in your last line.
"Let me die peaceful pen in hand"
Is that "peaceful me " or a "peaceful pen"? I suppose we can all decide where we would place the comma!
    Good write and good luck

  • I liked the simplistic ...

honesty that comes with this poem and it's a pleasure to meet a fellow poet who is over 50 ...
Nice poem that is easy to read! jy

  • So well put! let one pen till the end and then bury that pen with the poet, thank you for this entry, like it! MM

It may be over the word limit but I like it very much.To pass peacefully with your pen in your hand is a lovely, calm thought -I hope when it happens you have reached your final 'fullstop' so not to leave anyone guessing - or maybe that might be ok too.
    Glad I came here, Von
