mechanical windup dolls
were my childhood friends.
they shared all my secrets,
cried at the right time
or laughed
when I needed someone
to be there with me.
it’s too bad I aged,
and learned that everything
comes to an end.
even pieces of scrap metal
eventually break.
Author notes
48 words.
the prompt was wilt(ing)(ed)
and usually wilting has to do with flowers, but i took it more one the sense that it means to die / to break etc. so yea.. hope its alright, this is what the prompt brought me.

"mechanical windup dolls
were my childhood friends."
This ties perfectly with the ending
"even pieces of scrap metal
eventually break."
But it's so sad, I do love how the still wilted, such an unusual description.
J'adore.
But not everything comes to an end =]

I like how you've taken the prompt in a different way then first thought.
A wonderful write and I wish you all the best in the contest.
