Hunami Sakura Connection

Missing image
I introduced myself to the sushi chef when I sat down.
He said his name was Toro, but his friends
call him Fatty Tuna.  Su, the owner, wants me
to give her numb chum lessons, but I don’t think
Mrs. B is going for that in this little corner sushi store
in Old Town Auburn where the tin pans
used to gather and trade 150 years ago.

Back at the basket weaver’s ball,
Chip slipped Mickey a Davey Jones highball –
a reminder that primate delights swallowed whole
often enhance the Bonobo traits in the
chimpanzee of us all –
      repetitive pleasure,
                no sexual boundaries.

There are no invincible water particles
to wrap ourselves within now.
Isn’t anyone curious to know what human flesh
in water should be called when fish nibble on it?
Reverse sushi – I know it’s in poor taste,
but won’t a perfect wasabi fix that quickly?

Nobody remembers the last time
we swaggered home this late in the evening.
It’s hard to recall what the sushi knife trims
so silently away into new rising suns
when the sake’s hot and the mind goes cold.

No moral tells a story quite like this one –
Hunami-Sakura connections tugging
between the enigmatic definitions of
invisible intensity, and our diabolical reliance
on hooks, lines and sinkers.
Don’t we buy it that way all the time?

I love sushi, my steak medium rare, and by the way; my ex is Korean
and she tasted like sweet teriyaki chicken.

    Thanks for reading.

the swallow makes me think of . . . birds. returning to Capistrano. not really. makes me hungry.
and we are one on this issue of the "diabolical reliance on hooks (shudder), lines and sinkers."

the pome has me (davey) jonesing for some spanish mackerel, just a smakeral. by the way, you forgot the cold sake: good nippon sippin from the tre bitchin' sushi kitchin.

You write the most insane poems meaning they have such a twist and turn to them that I always feel like Alice in Wonderland when I read your work!

    Love it!

I've been to wonderland and back several times, but they never let me see Alice, but they always send me over Viagra falls by the end of the trip. I'm gonna have my own book! I'm gonna have my own book! I'm still gonna send ya some loop grooves to work with one of these fine days though - beware, and thanks for reading!

Hey, you ever been to Sakura's in Monterey? Ask for Kazu, and tell him, Ed Balldinger the Pechalhead said howdy!

i love this Ed...love the pans gathered, love the water particles, and these lines:
"It’s hard to recall what the sushi knife trims
so silently away into new rising suns
when the sake’s hot and the mind goes cold."
