Stop

Stop acting like you know me
You don't
You think you do
You judge me at face value
Like my life's an open book
And you've read all of the chapters
But there's more to me then meets the eye.
Mine is a common story
Common to thousands
But foreign to you
I know what it's like to be beat by a man
By a fool with nothing better to do
To have a mother who's still growing up
Still needing to be raised herself
But you can't relate to what you don't know
So stop trying
No, you don't understand
Stop saying you do
You've never walked in my shoes
You don't know what I've been through.
I'm not a cookie cutter kid
I won't and don't fit the mold
I crave more than fitting in
Don't try to conform me
Our dreams are not the same.
I'm sorry if I come off as mean
But I just want you to understand
That I don't want your sympathy
Or any of your pity
I just want to do my thing
Without the judgment, the stares
Just let me be me
And stop trying to make me
Like you.

Great! I'm sure everyone at some point in their life feels this way. I know I read this and was nodding in agreement with almost every line. Powerfully written, strong emotions, and the ending was fantastic. Awesome job.
