History's Secret

Ancient prophets have foretold-
What all our futures hold,
And ancient peoples lived their lives
According to a simpler mold.
Yet if you viewed our ancient past
You might be awed or left aghast
(It's shocking when you know)
You will understand at last.
The secret of all history,
It's one enduring mystery-

Originality is done-
But while it lasted, it was fun.
