Laughter's Deflection (H.M.)

There's arguments flying left and right
this life where we live in a boxing ring fight,
words thrown like punches to make direct hit
and feelings of ire easily transmit.

Arrows are aimed to hit centre goal
unravelling the essence for perfect control,
for sticks and stones may break bones
but words leave us lost and alone.

There's a break to this cycle that can't be denied
where all arrows and bullets are just cast aside,
to turn on thorny words with a laugh and a joke
deflects any harm that such spite may evoke.

To understand any grudge is often born of spite
diverges the river of hate into streams of new sight
and attempts to demean now backfire with a smile
and laughter's assault all along is worthwhile.

8) "Against the assault of Laughter nothing can stand."
