A beautiful woman was killed today,
Raped and murdered in a horrible way.
A thirteen year old kid has just tried meth,
In a month it controls him, he will soon meet death.
A man robs a liquor store with a stolen gun,
On the way out he shoots the clerk just for fun.
Drug deal goes wrong in front of the school,
Now three children lay in a dark, spreading pool.
The politicians make another dirty deal,
Causing repercussions generations will feel.
A woman kills her husband for the insurance check,
Her three children's lives are now a wreck.
In a society ruled by evil, greed and crime,
These things always happen time after time.
Every year seems worse than the one before,
Destruction and diversity are setting the score.
Still I believe it will get better someday, somehow,
And maybe worse is what's better for now.
For it's always darkest just before the dawn,
Perhaps from the ashes a better world will spawn.
