Consciousness (rictameter)

I am
awake, aware
use power of reason
sift nuances, innuendoes
to discern the message behind the words
devise a rational response
true to my own values
it shows just who
I am

a very strong verse, beautifully composed and structured, that faithfully reflects the values held dear by the poet ... it shows us that it is more important for us how we perceive, interpret and integrate a message than trying to discern the messenger’s original intention, which probably might be out of reach for us, after all ...
unless we “become” the other, we will only see mirrored reflections projected back to us in every thought and deed of another ... we can only do that when we dive into the space between thoughts – or as you say “discern the message behind the words” – where the impression of separation ceases ...
this morning I remembered the beautiful quote : “the saint’s eyes perceive only saintliness ...”
thank you so much for your insightful and very inspiring poem,
    maa

    Excellent:

Very good poem. I love how it flowed. Nicely done. I love the words, how beautiful it was. And I love the message in the poem. It made me happy. I felt as if I could connect with it. I really loved the ending. Great job.

Beautiful write. I don't see many poems on AP that center around the theme of consciousness. Also think the form is great, too. Thanks for sharing and keep that pen flowing.
