The Letter


I was never bitter
when you said your heart was atwitter
and in love with young Adeline
I read it in your letter

you said you loved her
and that you were sure
your love would last forever
you said this to me once

I was suddenly bitter
when you said your heart was atwitter
and in love with young Adeline
I read this in your letter

you said she set your heart ablaze
when ever you saw her gaze
The fire would last forever
You said this to me once

I cried when I read your letter
when you said your heart was atwitter
and in love with young Adeline
my tears hit your letter

I tucked your letter away
when I read the last few words
“Love is a funny thing”
You said this to me once

I pulled out a pen a paper
Upon my desk it sat
I wrote you back
Like I did before


I was not bitter
when you said your heart was atwitter
I said I hope that you and Adeline
Would last just for forever.

    Aha, awwe, Kaitlin, this poem rocked, simply because you used the word "atwitter."

    And I'm starting over on AP.
    I currently have one poem, lol...

    I like the poem. But the rhyme scheme makes me uneasy.
