The Heisenberg uncertainty principle states that we cannot know everything about a particle, in particular that the momentum and position are interlinked and the more accurately you know one the less accurately you know the other.
This is at the root of a lot of important advances in quantum mechanics etc.

Science in a sonnet --- well now perhaps if they had done it in poetry in the text books I would have stayed with it beyond GCSE.
