My Favourites’ Gallery – Wyleian Sonnet CCXLIII

Within my Favourites’ Gallery, a sacred, safe repository,
are recent photographs of all my faves
which are, for sure, safe and secure.  Alone I have the key -
the secret password that intrusion saves.

No-one shall ever wrest that key from me or ever see
those faces that I treasure in my heart.
for they’ve been shared with me in confidentiality
from which I’ve promised never to depart.

Some faves think they are plain or that they’ve lost their former looks
but movie stars are not what I’m inviting.
It’s those whose poetry I love that I put in my books
and each dear face inspires me in my writing.

Be not ashamed of how your looks compare, my darling fave -
your individual face is what good God and Nature gave.

Hugh Wyles, March 4th. 2009.

Author notes

Dedicated to all my favourites. I think you are all beautiful!

I currently enjoy playing with mixed meters, hence alternate heptameter (septameter) and pentameter lines. ababcdcdefefgg.

It's good to know that our virtual presence inspires you to write these wonderful poems. I enjoy the mixed meter, I hope you will write more!

Dear Babe, You are the most trustworthy man I have ever met and Yem is wrong, we don't display our photo's for vanity, it's nice to go to an authors page and put a face to the name. We all know any information you have is kept private.
    Love Hine

    Thank you Kind King Hugh
for reiterating your promise in verse
for with me releasing my photo
    was an unusual first.

    It was not about looks
    but a matter of trust
    which does not come lightly
from this girl who is spritely.

    The release of said photo
    speaks volumes
    of your esteem
    in my humble book.

      Dear Pixiestix,

I am fully aware it was quite an exception
that you, to my gallery, thus should entrust
your beautiful photo for my sole perception
because my conditions insisted you must.

But, as I have explained it just isn’t the same
when I write to a favourite across cyber space,
if I know nothing more than the gender and name
and can not visualise the recipient’s face.

That you thus have acceded to my earnest request
is esteemed very highly. You're up with the rest.

With love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

Of course I'm beautiful...as handsome as they come, lol

It's easier for guys. We don't care what we look like, but I'm sure it's a big deal to women. I think I've seen a photo of most of your favs, the regulars anyway. Most are vain like me and show their photo as their avatar.

It is a tribute to you Hugh that they trust you to keep their confidence. If it were me, I'd sell them to anyone with a Moxie to give me!

      Dear Yem,

With women it's not just a question of vanity
or even, you know, from conditioned insanity.
It is more from assurance and confident trust,
most exhibit their faces but seldom their bust.

Of course if you had a secret photo stash of their busts you would share with me, right?

I'm afraid I don't have any bust or boob photos to share
except the ones I've posted with my poems on this site.
I'm perpetually hunting for some big ones, day and night
and I may get some at Sunday School if I'm allowed in there.

    Dear Hugh,

To be trusted with private information is a wonderful privilege that I know you hold sacred, you have too much integrity to break that trust. All your faves can rest easily.
We all change over the years, but we are still the same same people inside. I think we become better the older we get and we have to learn to love our bodies and our self so that others will love us for who we are, not for what we think we look like.
Beautifully written Wyleian Sonnet my friend.
    Love Bea

      Dear Bea,

Although you are my Secretary and my Officer,
and you and I have shared a lot of stuff,
I've never let you to my secret gallery refer
for reasons which you know quite well enough.

The pictures which my favourites send are guarded with my life.
I don't show them to anybody - least of all my wife!

Thankyou for your very apt comment.
      Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
