Energy

Oh, what a sight!
Airplanes take off,
they have reached new heights

And it;s the baby’s birthday
but he’s teething a bit the balloon
burst when he chewed it away

It was springtime, time for allergies
She had her Benadryl
but she could only sneeze

The Japanese weren’t prepared
when the atom bomb was dropped
and brought much despair

I jumped off the ground
And suddenly I’m flying
I’m not homeward bound

Author notes

This poem is about my manic phases when I think I can fly. Each stanza has an image that (to me) describes mania.

    A confused imagery.

As perhaps is to be expected, having read your authors notes.

Each stanza paints a different canvas, from the trivial

It was springtime, time for allergies
    She had her Benadryl
    but she could only sneeze

To one of the most important man made events.

    The Japanese weren’t prepared
when the atom bomb was dropped
    and brought much despair

What binds these evebts together is the mind of a single individual.

I enjoyed your diction, and your individuality, without a full appreciation of your meaning.

    Thank you.
